133 – Whiskies of Scotland 1990 Linkwood 24 bottling for The Mash Tun
Oil paints, apples and pears, Christmas spice, marzipan. Huge apricots and peaches with cream, subtle spice biscuit, rock melon, banana caramel pie.

134 – Candenhead 1987 Linkwood 26 Years
Chocolate finger biscuits, Malt, slight herby note, bread, dried banana. Some tropical fruits, caramel, salt, herbaceous, mangos and cream, rock candy.

135 – Berry Bros & Rudd Benrinnes 1988 28 Years Cask 892 for Whisk-e
Peanut brittle, almost ozone, chocolates, earl grey tea, yeast, glue. Juicy rockmelon slathered in whipped cream, winter spice, clear sugars, salty, slight leather, chocolate, melted butter, egg whites. So much in this thing!

136 – The Whisky Agency Ben Nevis 17 Years 1996 for The Mash Tun
Sweat (in a good way), caramel, salt, marmalade, creme brûlée, honey ice cream, baked potatoes. Tropical fruit, ice coffee, salt, butter in coffee, egg custard. Wonderful.

Whisky 2016 – 114-116 Old Crow, Zurich

114 – Old Pulteney 1996 Cask 3557 Bottled 2011
Apricots, chocolate, salt, pepper, chicos, cloves. Really chewy, rose hips, apricot, cream.

115 – Aberlour Cadenhead 1995 19 Years Sauternes Cask
Sulphury, cucumber, stewed apples. Fruity soooo fruity, vanilla cream loads of it, brandy snaps, dried figs, green figs, peaches

116 – Benrinnes 23 Years
Rubber, sulphary, honey, stewed apples. Honey, cloves, rubber, lettuce, brown butter, leather, roast beef, dry wood. So freaking good.

And we are away. Bit of a break over January but we will be breaking 150 for the year again.

1 – The Old Malt Cask Benrinnes 15
Sultana Danish, pear juice, toffee, butterscotch, maple syrup on pancakes with sour cream. Dried mango, pepper, fruit cake, pound cake.

  
2 – The Old Malt Cask Craigellachie 14
Sultanas, brown sugar & butter, wood polish, green bananas. Huge palate, Xmas pudding, custard, salt, slight bitter, slightly woody, slightly sulphury, brown butter and dried stone fruit.

3 – The Coopers Choice Ben Nevis 1996
Eggy cake batter, my Nan’s apricot jam, slight milk chocolate. Apricots, floral, cake mix, vanilla sugar, chocolate milk shake, Sacher torte.

  

4 – G&M Connoisseur’s Choice Caol Ila 2001
Band-aids, peanuts, autumn leaves, mulch, cured sausage cooked on a fire. Fire place, liquid smoke, jersey creams and a walk down the avenue in late autumn.

Whisky 2015 – 94-95

94 – Heartwood Devil is in the Detail
Marzipan, toasted macadamias, cocoa, milk chocolate. Peppery, salty and intense vanilla cream. Had to add water it’s beautiful but really needed to chill out. With water it’s more floral on the nose with the vanilla poking through. Ok this is a weird one paper bark trees, fruit cake dripping in brandy, roasted capsicum.

95 – Berry’s 1984 Benrinnies bottles 2011
Caramel, glue and honey, cloves, cucumber in gin, hazelnuts. Warm quince cake, dry spices. Pretty bloody good.

Whisky 2015 – 33-36

33 – Benrinnes 23
Rubber, chocolate, woody, heavy on the Sherry, musk and perfumed. Salty, woody, rubber, thyme and praline. Rock candy finish. 

34 – BenRiach PX 1996
Banana, fake banana, milk duds, marshmallows, cola, something floral and I think orange zest. Salt, pepper, butter, melted butter, flapjacks, maple syrup, vanilla cream. 

35 – Glenglassaugh Revival
Wood and dry herbs, salt, stale butter (not in a bad way). Tobacco and a tequila like smoke, pepper and cream. 

36 – Glen Grant Five Decades
Stewed apricots, stewed apple, dried apple and cinnamon buns. Butter, cream, salt … Slight cherries and plump raisins.
